The house
A walled estate on a wooded island in the bay of Cannes, reached by private boat in about ten minutes from the port. It is the only private property on the island, and it sits inside its own stone enclosure among roughly 14,000 square metres of botanical and kitchen gardens, with an old fortress on the hill above.
Twelve bedrooms are spread across seven buildings: a restored governor's residence, a sixteenth-century turreted tower with a suite at the top, a guest house, three garden cottages and three pool suites. Interiors are pale and quiet, with stone and marble floors, teak and neutral linens. Long dining tables are set outdoors under pergolas, beside a heated pool and a still pond planted with water lilies; indoors there is a spa with hammam, sauna and treatment rooms, a gym, a cinema and wine and cigar cellars.
The household is large and fully resident: a house manager, chefs, butlers, housekeepers, drivers and a spa therapist. Breakfast, a three-course lunch and a three-course dinner are served each day, with produce picked from the vegetable beds and the olive and lemon trees, and boats run between the island and Cannes through the day. There is a helipad and a private landing stage.
