The house
A beachfront villa on Koh Samui's quiet west coast, set on a long sweep of pale sand where the water stays shallow for a hundred metres out, which makes it easy for children. The house faces the sunset, with the limestone islands of the marine park on the horizon; loungers, a nest bed and a sala with a barbecue sit right at the edge of the beach.
Pavilions under steep thatch-style roofs are joined by water: a three-level cascading infinity pool, with a children's pool, runs through the middle of the property towards the sea. Inside there is a high-ceilinged living room, a family room, a games room, a cinema, a glass-walled gym and a small spa with a six-person whirlpool. Three family suites each connect to a children's room or a teenagers' loft, and two further guest bedrooms complete the five suites, all with their own bathrooms.
A household of seven, including a villa manager, a private chef, housekeepers and a night guard, looks after the house. The chef cooks Thai, Japanese and international menus and gives cooking classes in the villa kitchen, and breakfast is included each day. Kayaks, beach volleyball and a basketball court keep children busy.
